How to Design a Website in Photoshop

Before you can create a website, i.e.  code a website, you need to know exactly what your end result should look like. This is why it all starts with Photoshop.

Photoshop is an amazing tool, but it is so complex that many people give up  just because they can’t get the tools doing what they want them to do although, no doubt, there is nothing wrong with these tools.

In this tutorial we explain in detail how to use these tools to create this beige and blue minimalistic website design. In upcoming tutorials we will explain how to code this design to create a live fully functional website.

Here is the link to our tutorial How to Design a Website in Photoshop – hope you will enjoy it.

World’s Top Web Designs

top web design exampleWeb develops faster than we can follow, however if you want to be a real web designer, or to be more precise  - web artist, you need to keep your eye on latest trends in web design world. And this is not only for top professionals. Beginners too, find this very helpful. This helps them stay inspired, gives them ideas and develops good taste.

Today’s web design uses large images and elaborate fonts. Hand drawn and somewhat grungy designs are still welcome. To see some examples visit our world’s top web design gallery. Each image is linked to the actual website, so you can see the whole design live including their inner pages. Hope it will give you some fresh ideas for your own designs.

Why my site looks messed up on other computers?

It must be more than disheartening to spend multiple hours or even days on a design only to realize that it looks all messed up on your friend’s  or worst – your customer’s screen. Many beginners think this must be their fault but don’t know how to fix this and give up on designing for good. It is not as easy to seek for advice on this matter, because although there are many web professionals who are generally willing to help, you will simply have too many questions to ask. Also these questions often cannot be answered right away – it involves trying, testing, previewing, then trying again. This is why when it comes to optimizing your web design for different screens and browsers you are mainly on your own.

The good news that with the evolution of screens and browsers, growing availability of preview tools our task becomes easier every year.  You absolutely can master this art and you absolutely have a chance as a web designer.  Please read this article for details. If you have any comments feel free to post them here.

We made it!

“Hello world”,  the default WordPress post wouldn’t be out of place here. Free Web Patterns finally made it to web design world and has something to share too. I hope we are welcome :) In case you knew Free Web Patterns before – no, we are not the same people but hope you will like our work too.

This website is not older than a couple of weeks but you can already find quite a few templates that you may like and they are free to use. In fact, as long as you bring something good to this world  we will feel honored if you use them.

So far these templates are regular HTML+CSS templates for websites, but we are working on contributing more designs to WordPress – the generous host of this blog.

Finally, I should say it is a pleasure to do this work – something I’ve always heard about but always felt it only happens to some other people. You know the feeling when you hate to go to sleep at night but force yourself because you are fainting from tiredness, then wake up in the morning all excited about the work you are going to do today. In this world full of negatives, it’s a great pleasure to make something beautiful each and every day. And this is when you never envy somebody else’s success, because you are simply so much in love with the work itself you feel sincerely happy for others and take pleasure looking at other people’s beautiful  work.

That’s about it for now, so please pass by this blog and our main site Free Web Patterns - it is updated almost every day.

If you have any comments go on and leave your comments here or contact us through the contact form of our site.
